john hays /salinda crappie?
Anyone catching crappie at John Hay or Salinda? Any suggestions? My father and I used to catch em pretty good at Salinda, but it has been 15 to 20 yrs since then. I'd like to take my daughter somewhere close to Sellersburg tommorrow, and I've been striking out at Deam's so far this year.
Thanks for your help

I haven't been in a year or two, but the crappie fishing at John Hays was getting worse every year. There are plenty of fish to be caught, but seemed like the got smaller every year, so I quit going. Used to hit them pretty good when the lake rose in the spring and you could get in the flooded timber by the creek.

Haven't tried the crappie at John Hay, but bluegill were on fire before this cool snap. Fished the shallow end flat where the creek channel comes in. Fish were scattered all over the flat. Bite was also much better when the sun was hitting the water. Don't recall the water temp. We fished Road Runners but the bait fisherman were catching plenty as well. Slip corks with the bait suspended just above the bottom seemed the most popular. Several good eaters but no monsters.
