Cave Run tips?
Hey all, I'm taking the kids to Cave Run this weekend. We are going to rent a pontoon and do some fishing. I have never fished Cave Run and I'd like to get the kids into some crappie, or at least something that will hold there attention. Does anyone have some tips or places to target?

Re: Cave Run tips?
Went to Cave Run on Sunday 4/10/2011. Targeted crappie in several areas of the lake from Caney Creek to down past the Zilpo area. They just were not hitting yet.
Water levels were high. Water quality was very stained to muddy in some areas. Lots of debris in the water. I even saw what looked to be an entire telephone pole floating out in the middle of the lake off Zilpo.
I talked to one guy who was leaving after being there since Thursday, he was disappointed in the fishing and hadn't caught much over the prior 3 or 4 days. Cave Run, now being in mid-April, has to be on the verge of popping, but it looks like it hasn't yet.

Re: Cave Run tips?
a little crappie tid-bit for Cave...when they do turn on and the Lake stops being a mudhole...which it is now...shouldn't take long for it to clear as long as the rain lets up a little....if you run to the back of beaver where Longbow dock is.....go behind the dock where the highway is...there is a culvert there and right out in front of that culvert Crappie will stack up on that thing and you can wax e'm!! If you go to longbow and look for that culvert in the back you can't miss it!!
