Thunder over louisville

I think the defense department ought make DVD's and drop them over the countries that attack us or even just pzzzzzz us off. Why? If we can send "up" 36 tons of ordnance just to have fun, think what might happen if we decided it ought "come down", and did so in revenge?

AD: Coming to a town near you "Thunder over YOUR CRIB". Back off and chill, let's talk about it. Cause if you swing first, we are going to draw just as much enjoyment watching the fireworks as they drop from our planes.

Question: Is T-over L-ville entertainment, or a FIREPOWER DEMONSTRATION?

I have never watched that. What does that cost the city?

Looked mighty impressive from the roof of the Residence in....haha...as I was staying there for work. :D

Not sure how much it costs the city....ain't no tellin'. But they (Thunder people) usually have "sponsers" that donate to the cause...Ford and UPS. I assume both of these big companies are still donating to the cause every year.

As for the weather this year, man...seems like every year Thunder is always dealing with some weather concerns. I'm kind of thinking they ought to move Thunder back by three or four weeks and instead of calling it the Opening Cerimonies for the Kentucky Derby they could call it the Closing Cerimonies.

Largest firework show on planet earth every year. I've seen several close up and after about three or four, ya seen one ya seen'em all.

Fireworks are free paid for by the sponsors - but Police & host of other Public Safety people has to cost Metro major bucks!

But if you've never actually seen it in person it is well worth the effort - air show usually is pretty good and more fireworks in just the 5 min Shock & Awe finale than most people have seen during their whole lives!

You can't get the impact from the TV - because you can't feel the explosions from the shells in your chest . .

Don't worry about that. We've come to the point in society where there's plenty of money left over to do stuff like that every year.

Couldn't pay me to go to thunder ever again. attended 1 time back about 7 years ago and thought it was the biggest waste of my time ever. Stayed for the sake of the family, but you couldnm't pay me to attend it again....And i do mean it.....

Is it the crowd? The show?

I've been once in person also about 7 or 8 years ago....Was trying to walk through the shoulder to shoulder crowd when a skinhead said something to a couple gangbangers and a fight broke out...I was literally 3 feet from them when a gun got pulled and aimed in my direction and I absolutely couldn't move...To top it all off the cops couldn't get through the crowd to get to the guys for about 5 minutes so all i could do was stand there and watch....pretty sure i had a small piss dribble runnin down my leg....That was my first and last time I will ever attend thunder

Same here for me...I went "once"...back in the 1990's sometimes...it was "ok", just not into that sort of thing. ain't been back since.

But watching the practice air show on the day before Thunder is pretty cool...just glad I'm an American when I see those jet's flying around like they do, they're definitely bad azz...

We have season tickets for the Bats, and I'm telling ya, if you ever want to go to Thunder, Slugger Field is the way to go. I think tickets for the game on Thunder day are about $30, and you get a wristband so you can come and go all day, and you can watch the fireworks from the stadium, an excellent vantage point. PLUS you have a seat to sit down whenever you want, without having to stake out your little square on the great lawn or whatever, and most importantly a clean bathroom! Parking in the season ticket holders' lot is only $5, but of course you have to get there real early, it fills up quick.

Thunder doesn't cost the city any money, all the costs, including police overtime, are paid for by the KY Derby Festival Corp., which, despite all the sponsors, loses money on it almost every year.
