Preparing
With all this rain, here's what I'm doing.
1. The boat has a full tank.
2. Sitting in the driveway, I've loosened the winch strap and remove the stern tie downs.
3. Snacks, water, and spare phone and Marine Band radio batteries are on board.
4. I'm still collecting, but now have 2 earth worms, 2 beetles, 2 flys, 2 squirrels, 2 chipmunks, 2 robins, and 2 doves. I have rabbits, and have to keep telling them "only 2, only 2". Somebody else will have to get the skunks, I can't do it all.
5. To be safe, at the house, I drained the water bed, and filled it back with air. That should get me to the boat.
6. When my next paycheck comes in Wednesday, I want to by 35 cans of Great Stuff spray foam, and see if I can make my van float.
Good news, I used to live inland...........and beach front has a higher market price.

Re: Preparing
Made out of gopherwood, length about 507 ft .width 68 ft with a 50 cubit draft, and about 22,000 pd tonnage
You would need however a lot of more spray foam for the van.
And many old world craftsmen for the ark as its a lost art.
Large amounts of rain going by just north of me everyday,Evanville Ind must be awash by now.

Re: Preparing
With all the rain and storms you know we have not set any records yet or have we. I know I have had my share of it but what scary is when it quits it will probably not rain the rest of the summer.

Re: Preparing
Hey HB do the world a favor this time – no mosquitoes.

According to this article, we were just a few more inches of rain short of setting an all-time precep record for April....and that was on the 22nd! Check it out...also some nice info on fishing in this monsoon...

Re: Preparing
One thing for sure is I am SICK AND TIRED of the high winds!!! And HB you have the same thought pattern as me loosen the straps and get ready. They are predicting another 4"-7" by Wednesday here by KY Lake and they have thrown the term "catastrophic flooding" with the upcoming rain. Roads closed everywhere and I learned a valuable lesson (again):
Sometimes leaving the plug IN the boat is bad, when I remembered to pull it at the house it was already too late and had storm after storm pounding so I turned the bilge on and ran back inside and it pumped for almost a half hour straight - it will be July before i get it dried out again.

Re: Preparing
That must be tough, with the beetles and flies, telling male from female.

Re: Preparing
DOOOOOOOP! Wait a minute! New idea. YAAAAAAAAA.....
Think Yellow Submarine!
Think how much fun it would be to stalk and torpedo River Cats!. And when the hotties on the jet skis are detected on the sonar. Up periscope.....I mean to see.
And think of all the cool stuff you could scavenge off the bottom of local lakes.
On most surface boats, you have to worry about leaks and it going down. Now, in a sub, if you get a leak you have to worry about getting it.......well to the surface.
Did you know you can clean boat hulls with Tequilla?
