Re: Patoka Lake - Flooding
Last report I had was from yesterday when my friend from Patoka Lake called and told me it was 7 ft over summer pool and rising fast. He said that you could probably not get under the bridges. He got the lake stages off the Corp of Engineers web site from what he told me.
He said the creek were muddy too. But main lake was ok. He was up there last Saturday or Sunday but didn't fish because of the high winds and heavy rains.
Does anyone know if Patoka Lake is still open to fishing? I am assuming it is. However, today's depth/condition report said it is at 544.2' and flood stage is 548'. I have heard the Patoka River is flooding areas so they would continue letting water in the Lake in order to keep surrounding areas from flooding. Any reports on current conditions of the lake - muddiness, temps, if one is able to get under the bridges, etc., would be greatly appreciated.
Stick to the main lake and you should be OK. All the tributaries are a mess.
Re: Patoka Lake - Flooding
I was down there once when you couldn't go under the bridges. I forgot what the water level was. I had a heck of a time getting to the lake too, detours from flooded roads. I don't remember much about how or where I fished but do remember that don't waste your time on flooded pine trees. It's 3' below flood stage today. I'd bet one could go a long way past King Bridge. Floating timbers would be a bigger concern than standing timber now. :D
