Hard one is the Sebile magic swimmer. pricey but one bad unit.
Soft, I like several. Money Minnows are great but tear up easy. Berkley makes a good soft swimbait as well, as does Lucky Strike.
Throw them anytime the water is clear to slightly stained and hang on.
Check out the Big Hammer. I have always had a hard time getting the swimbaits to run true. But I had some of these given to me threw our sponsors and if you look at the details on how to rig them on the site you can get it to run right every time.
You can get to there site threw ours. Link on front page.

Tried the Money Minnow, and I must have gota bad pack because none of em swim unless your burn em. I like teh Strike King Shadalicious. For hard baits, The SK sexy swimmer, and the Sebile are both great. I find that they dont produce as much in teh stained waters as they do in clear water.
Try the Mony Minnows on a expose lead head, 1/4 oz is just about perfect. When storing them don't allow the tails to become crunched up it screws up the action. The cheap Lucky Strike ones run good, try those.
I like the 4" Top Shelf swimbait in light hitch.
I like the Zoom swimming fluke version. It's a little cheaper and looks different than most.
I have used and own many others but this one is subtle in very shallow clear water.
+1 Big Hammer
where do you throw them? on points, channel banks, brush piles....
