Re: Kentucky Lake Visibility
I talked to some folks at the lake yesterday and got some information. Some of you may know this already, but I don't live there and next week will be my first trip to the lake. This year's flood is totally different from last year's flood. Huge amounts of rain in a short period in TN last year washed houses, refrigerators, cows, trees into the lake and it was super muddy. The water isn't near as bad this year, but it is obviously a level record. It is dirty but you may have one foot of visibility.
Also it sounds like the lake could be close to normal levels around the 15th.
Anyone agree with this?
Re: Kentucky Lake Visibility
The last 2 years I have fished Lake Barkley when the lake was flooded. 2 years ago when the lake was about 5 feet over summer pool, the creeks were muddy (almost no visibility) and the main lake was stained (about one foot of visibility). Last year, the rains were heavier and accumulated high amounts in much less time. When I fished, the lake was again about 6 feet over summer pool (it had already fallen to about 365 from it's crest of 368) and it was just the opposite -the main lake was muddy and the creeks were stained. I'm heading down today as soon as I can and am staying the weekend. I'll let you know the conditions after I see the water.
Re: Kentucky Lake Visibility
I live on the lake and yeah I agree there was allot of debris floating beacause they were pulling water so hard, Barkley has alot of areas that are plain muddy, KY has clearer water right now, there is debris but not at all like last year. In fact KY Lake is on fire right now with good numbers being caught, everyday i cannot wait to leave and hit the lake!!!!
Re: Kentucky Lake Visibility
I went last weekend and Barkley was pretty much muddy everywhere. I hardly saw anyone fihing. Sounds like KY is the place to be if the water color is better.
