Re: Green River Lake report
I went yesterday and we had a lot of bites but didn't land them, all in the coves. Boated a few LM biggest being 3 1/2 pounds. A couple of Ky bass. Started to fish for crappie and low and behold I pulled out a 2 1/2 pound crappie just over 16 inches. Biggest one I have ever caught. That was my first time on that lake and had a blast ESP for not knowing anything about it. Water was high but it is a beautiful lake and We are going back next weekend! And considering is down poured on us 80% of the day.
Re: Green River Lake report
How many crappie did you catch and what were you using, minnows or jigs? What ramp did you use and what part of the lake did you fish?
Re: Green River Lake report
Jigs lone valley only about 5 crappie the coves right around the ramp
Re: Green River Lake report
Fished Sat, we had a small limit of large and spots, best 5 about 10 maybe, had a good spot around 2 1/2, was in a spot that spots should not be she was on the nest, caught the male also, also seen two good largemouths that were fixing to go on bed, they were just crusing around the beds waiting, one would have gone 5+ the other maybe 3.5/4, they were probally locked by today, all our fish were up next to bank if you could get into the bank, any clear spot you came too there was fish, caught only two on the outside of brush, all fish came on weightless and slightly weighted soft plastics. was a good day lerned a little more about green.
Re: Green River Lake report
Most of our fish were spots and smallies. Only had 2 LM but they were both over 3 lbs. They came on deep diving crankbaits in 18 feet of water. I hope the water comes down soon
Re: Green River Lake report
Guys, Thanks for all the reports. I will plan a crappie trip next weekend, even if the lake is still high. From experience, when they are pulling the lake, crappie are stacked or around stumps in deeper water. Patience, minnows and jigs and a lot of depthfinder watching is what it takes.
Here is a COE site to monitor the water levels within the Louisville District.
Hope this helps.
