Patoka yesterday
My son and I fished Patoka yesterday morning. First trip there this year...We usually like fishing the Forestry tri-lakes, but go to Patoka to mix things up a little. Cool, cloudy morning was all we needed to try the flooded brush around some of the banks that hold the small bluegills and newly hatched bass fry. We fished 5 hours, caught 12 bass and one large crappie. All using Coffee tubes and flukes. Two bass were in the 3 lb. range, others were smaller. Have made 4 trips to Patoka since last spring...total bass count for two of us...close to 30 bass with a 6 and a 5 lber...Dont understand all the post with all negative talk about this awesome lake.

Re: Patoka yesterday
if you went there more than once this year, you would understand...yesterday was the best ive done all year and it still was pretty bad...3 keepers and 2 4 lbers.

Re: Patoka yesterday
Well, thats 4 times since last summer...so thats more than one time a year. Subtract the 12 from the 30 or so we caught in 4 trips...thats still 18 bass in 3 trips. Most of those were keepers. If you've been fishing Patoka up until now, before the flood waters started to drop, I dont think KVD could muster up a nice stringer. My point is, yeah, its a lake where you dont catch a fish every other cast, but pick your times and the right spots ...its still a very nice bass lake.

Re: Patoka yesterday
A 6 fish per trip average is pretty good for Patoka. However, given that I'd rather make the drive to Barkley or KY. Especially from this time of year and later. The fish are starting to transition to the ledges and thats when the fun starts.
