Reel Magic?
Someone told me this winter to us it to prevent line freeze up. And it did work. Will it help your reel against the damages saltwater can do? Heading south for some red and speckled trout fishing. I have reels that i use in the saltwaters yet they are kind old and slow. Like to take on of my favorites . salt water in my experience doesn't treat all reels the same. It'll freeze some of the up yet others are not phased by it. Guess thats difference between quality reels.

Re: Reel Magic?
Coombro, I keep a couple of rods and reels just for salt only. As soon as I am done fishing each day in salt I rinse them real good with fresh water and so far I have not had any trouble. One of my systems is a few years old. I immerse the reel in water, take it out and spin handle several times and repeat. The rod is only one step of rinsing in fresh water.

Re: Reel Magic?
I had posted about the Reel Magic, and I'm not sure about the salt water, but I don't think it will hurt, like Carter said I would rinse them off after I used them in salt water... JMO

Re: Reel Magic?
Yeah I always give them a good douching of fresh water. Got a couple saltwater rigs a little old and have seen their share of salt. Think I'll play it safe and leave my good ones at home. I them with the reel magic I really like that stuff.

Yep thats what I used to do. I fished the east coast of Florida for 20 years when living down that way and around Charleston S.C. and the only thing we would do in addition to rinsing them was to shoot a little wd-40 on the reels to stop the squeaking on the knobs of the reels. I used the same spinning reels for years with minimal maintenance.
