I was wondering if you seasoned central ky hybrid trollers could share some rigging secrets.I'm especially interested in the crankbait/trailer rig. What type of crankbait and dropper? How is it tied.I really appreciate it.

My buddy pulls a medium crank with a small "pet" spoon about 18 inches behind.
Why troll? You don't have to troll to catch them right now! Throw a trap and hold on!

Is the second line tied to the rear ring on the crankbait?I wonder if the rear hook is removed from the crankbait? Thanks btw.
Here's some of the Hybrids that we caught over the weekend throwing a white 200 series bandit bait.

Both hooks removed from the crank. 18 inches of line tied to rear of crank.
The crank w/pet spoon trailer is a good set-up...however, I have had much more success with erie dearies.

I've always used a large size Hot-n-Tot ... with jig trailer on 12-18" leader. I tie leader to FRONT hook eye, so that greater speed can be used without causing HnT to spin or surface. Weight/drag of jig can cause crankbait to roll, if tied to rear hook eye ... especially on smaller Hot-n-Tots, when pulling a little fast. (don't know speed of boat, as owner does not have GPS or accurate speedometer ... Tracker TX w/50hp @ idle running speed)
Just make sure you have adequate line size (# test) vs potential size of Hybrids in whatever lake you're fishing. Having a "plug knocker" is also a valuable asset.
Another good bait to use, trolling or casting, would be blade bait ... like a Silver Buddy (esp. if fish are in jumps or running shallow/med depths)
If you can find them hanging around underwater humps, sandy/gravel bottoms, or running shad along the shoreline .... a Kastmaster w/bucktail works real good. I've caught them casting & retrieving ... trolling ... and casting, letting Kastmaster hit bottom, and lift/dropping this bait back to boat.
Trolling a Shadrap #5 can also be productive.
(all of this info is in regards to trolling for Hybrid Stripers/White Bass at Taylorsville Lake, which is the only place I've used these baits/techniques ... but, should work for most other lakes with these fish present)
