Re: best crankin reel
4.7:1 - 5.2:1 ratio. I would reccomend a reel that is known for long distance casting as long casts are a requirement when fishing a deep diving crank. I really like my BPS Pro Qualifier for crankin. But if you got the money, there are reels that cast farther than this one.

Re: best crankin reel
Curado 5:1 ratio on a good cranking stick. I use St.croix glass rods on all my crankbaits. IMO.. glass rod have helped me land more fish.

Re: best crankin reel
Shimano Curado e5 is on sale for $140 if you can find one. I have two of them and would not give them up for any other reel. They are super smooth and you launch a Strike King series 6xd a mile.

Re: best crankin reel
I've really enjoyed my Revo Winch. 5.4:1 gear ratio. Has an oversized handle and is super smooth. Casts any size crankbait w/ 10# mono as far as need be. Also this real has a very high pound drag system for handling big fish.

Re: best crankin reel
The bass pro qualifier is the lower gear ratios is a good reel for the money, but it is really hard to beat the Abu Garcia Revo Winch in the 5.4:1 ratio.

Re: best crankin reel
I got a revo winch last winter and it reels in deep divers with little effort. I love it for cranks

I got the Revo Winch specifically for deep cranking and I love it! it grinds em slow with that 5.4:1. and it has a 24lb drag where most other reels have 17lb. it's the only way to go for deep cranking!
