Motorguide Help
24V 55lb thrust Motorguide Brutewill stop working if I run it continuously for 4-5 minutes at a high speed. Even if set in the "continuous" setting on the selector switch. If I give it time it starts working again like its a thermal overload issue. (?) Circuit breaker on battery doesn't trip as far as I can tell.
I never get the problem if I use it intermittently during normal fishing. Its been like this for several years.
Any ideas? I was thinking bad switch????
Thanks!

Re: Motorguide Help
Definitely sounds like a thermal overload issue. I would try bypassing the breaker and see if the problem persists. Breakers can get weak over time and open below the specified amperage. Just take the breaker off the wire and hook up the wire directly to the battery.

Re: Motorguide Help
The breaker is to protect the wiring. If you bypass it keep a close eye on your wiring!

Do NOT do this............that is foolish advise. Yea, breakers do go bad, but it will not take ANY time for you to short, damage, and maybe even SMOKE your boat.
the breaker will cost you less than 10 bucks at A20 or any other boat store. GET a new breaker rated for 40 amps, and be done with it.
