Anyone able to point me in a direction on barren as to where to catch some cats? Tried browns ford but only caught a cpl small channels.. anyone know if walnut creek is decent or anywhere else?

I had good luck on the last week of June along the treeline at Baileys point. I spent two weeks down there and the water was high. The best area was where the gate to the campground is. There's an old brush pile about 20' deep (It's not as deep now) near there.
If your fishing from a boat walnut creek is the spot, just go towards the 31 bridge and catch the last cove on the right. From the bank or boat check out Beavers creek near bridge beyond 252, can't recall the road.
Rip rap on the upstream side of the bridges. Logs and other junk gets swept up against the rocks and eventually sinks. Plus the rocks make decent spawning spots when its that time of year.
