Re: fort loudon dam
It has been a few years since I fished there. I went with a friend who had a Tracker boat. We bought some minnows and put a big ol' sinker on our lines. We would motor up to the dam, get in the slack water, bait up then move into the water where it is being released. We would drop our baits over the side and ride the current down hoping for a striper bite. During one of our runs I had something big take my bait. Never saw what it was cause I couldn't keep it on long enough. But it was a good hard fight for a few seconds. Good luck and I hope you catch a few.

Re: fort loudon dam
called a friend that lives / fishes at loudon, the word is if you can catch bait you will catch "smallish" stripes....but the bait is very hard to come by.
p.s this guy is pretty good there and if hes struggling getting bait , well it might be a job. but on the other hand i can guarantee you wont catch any ft loudon fish if you stay home :p

Re: fort loudon dam
as a side note, i just got back from chickamauga, i didnt set the world on fire but i had alot of fun fishing with a good friend. BUT the word is getting around about a 30 lb sack of fish being weighed in at a 12 hr night tournament last wknd. the fish are hanging on the deeper hump/drops, but i have no idea what they are catching them on. we carolina rigged 10inch worms with limited success.
maybe something you might think about if loudon doesnt work out .

Re: fort loudon dam
I see boats in the mornings throwing nets right below the Tellico Dam by the new ramp. This morning there were two of them at 6:20 am. I have also heard people talk about a big slick rock right by the turbine (Ft. Loudon) and when they turn the water on it is good for just a little bit until it gets to swift.

Re: fort loudon dam
Good luck, fishing must be pretty good the motels all seem to have some center consol boats in the parking lots all the time. I see a lot of boats going down there in the evenings also.
