Follow-Up Question
I read the thread about the guy getting pistol whipped and started thinking about weapons permits. I wanted to ask you guys how your states issue/handle your CCW permits. I live in Alabama and when we are issued our CCW Permit, it is a photo ID similar to our driver license and we carry it the same way. Our driver license are not reissued but there is a notice in The Department of Public Safety that tells law enforcement officers that we have a CCW/OCW Permit.
When we are stopped by an officer we have to keep both hands on the steering wheel and tell him that we have a CCW, if there is a weapon in the car, and where it is located.
I know you guys live in different states and was wondering what the procedure is in your state.

Re: Follow-Up Question
Works exactly the same way in Kentucky...
I've been pulled over once since getting my CCDW license and I did just that. I'm pretty sure it actually got me out of a citation. The guy seemed really appreciative that I was respectful and did that. He commented that my carry weapon was the same as his backup weapon, we chit-chatted a bit, and that was that.
