Re: Mariner engine problem
Run some marine stayble thru it will clean carbs and cyl walls.
Just pour in the gas tank. Its not an immeadiate fix, somewhat like putting fuel injector cleaner in a car
I put some in every few tanks, and if that doesnt fix time to clean carbs or what ever fuel system it has ,via a marine tech.
It keeps the gas from turning and the blue gets rid of soot etc.
A lot of low speed idling and slow moving adds up to soot, black walls. Thus why those who troll do it with a kicker.
Re: Mariner engine problem
I ran some staybil thru her and same result! I guess next thing is rebuild carbs?
Re: Mariner engine problem
could be many things...carbs, pump, timing. if you dont get it lined out, i can fix it.
Re: Mariner engine problem
Yes like he said could be a long list, from fuel pump to timing and everything in between.
As for stayble its not an quick fix, takes time to remove and lube, I use it as a preventive, not so much as a fix,but can in time remove a lot of built up soot and somewhat lube and clean carbs. Will also smoke more at idle while doing so,but smoke is generally from removed soot not from rings, burnt valves etc.
A bill for fixing from someone else can beat one ruining what one has,if you have gone thru all the normal steps.
