Fly Fishing Stream, Creek, River, Lake Reports
Hello All,
I thought I'd try to start a thread where we can all add our FFing reports. This could be very helpful to me as a relative beginner by giving me a one-stop, local resource to help match fly patterns to time of year and conditions and provide other helpful info. I'm thinking of details such as:
- Name of body of water.
- Date and time of day.
- Weather conditions.
- Water conditions.
- Area fished (don't give away your honey holes).
- Any other details you think might be helpful.
What do you guys think? Any interest? I live in Louisville and fish Otter Creek regularly so I will try to add information as often as possible.
I'll start...
Re: Fly Fishing Stream, Creek, River, Lake Reports
They stocked Otter Creek Park sometime between Oct. 18 and the 28th.
I spent about 4 hours there today, Oct. 28, and caught an even dozen rainbows.
The majority were in the 8" range with the biggest about 10-12 inches. Not monsters but it was a great time!
- Weather was quite chilly, breezy, and overcast but fun nonetheless. My car thermometer read 46 degrees when I arrived just after Noon.
- I was fishing a size 10 Goddard Caddis with a size 16 bh pheasant tail dropper about 12 inches below the dry. All but one came on the dropper.
- Fished the entire time within sight of the car at the Garnettsville parking area.
- The water was a bit high and stained due the recent rains but it's still easily wadable.
Only saw two other fishermen while I was there.
Thanks,

Fished Otter Creek today, Dec. 30, from about Noon until 3pm. Spent the entire time at Blue Hole. Expected to be smallie fishing but caught 4 rainbows instead. First time I've caught trout that far down stream...I guess they've had plenty of high water and time move down there. Caught all 4 on a #10 olive bh wooly bugger. All but one were caught on the swing or pickup. Weather was warm (50ish) but windy. Water was a bit high due the the recent rains but had good clarity and color.
All in all, a beautiful day and a great way to end 2011!
