In the past I have caught them below meldahl by using white or other brightly colored jigging spoons within a few feet of the bottom. Also had some luck using a drop-shot like rig with a heavy weight (1/2 oz) and a curly tail grub and minnow up the line. Not sure if the construction on the dam will make it tougher...The bouys may be further back. not sure...
You can use 3/16 to 1/2 oz jigs with curley tailed grubs below the dams. You can jig straight down when using a boat or fishing Markland Dam from the Indiana side from the bank by casting. If casting from the bank take plenty of jigs because you will loose a lot. Take several colors of grubs as you won't know the color they will hit on.There is a section of the bank at Markland Dam on the Indiana side about 100 yards down river from the steps when the sauger move in that is a good place.
we went last monday w/minnows on jigs , water was very muddy , now it has cleared up some may try again tomorrow we did not the first bite last monday
