when near death
I've heard on tv and read in books, where people near death would say they saw family members that had been dead for many years. and I've often wondered about this. here is a story that my mother told me today. my mother is 77 years old, and she is the third born of 7 girls. they all are christians. and 3 of her sisters has died in the last 14 months. the last one died last week. about a week before she died, my mother and her baby sister was sitting with their sick sister and she raised up and said to my mother, I am not crazy, I know that you two have been with me all day. and I know you can't see them. but they are here, standing right there at the foot of my bed. she said her mother and dad and her little boy that died over 40 years ago were there. my mother said that her sick sister ask them to have a seat on her bed. my mother said she didn't know what to think. but the look on her sisters face, said she was looking at what she said she was. I believe with all my heart that life goes on, I think that death is the gateway to the other side. we all have a number, and God almighty will call us as our turn comes. what do you all think about this subject. have any of you ever witnessed anything like this first hand.

Re: when near death
I also believe in life after death. My friend told me his mom said a very similiar thing when she was on her death bed. I believed she did see her family members there who had died years before.
Noone knows for sure. It's a choice to believe. Just like its a choice to believe in God.

Re: when near death
All clowning aside, being serious for a change, I've had that same experience personally 3 times in my life. I won't get into all the too cool details of how I got myself there, but 2 out 3 times was in a green suit.
Anyway....I wondered if what I saw was real or if it was something my then oxygen starved brain had pulled out of deep recall, just like some dreams can seem so real.
So I hear ya, but really don't know how a person could ever know for sure.
I will tell ya this. When it happened to me, each time, the fear went away, the pain hurt less, and I was someway calm and just ready to accept what ever came next. Then some dam doctor ruined it......oh well. Point.....just maybe if that's what folks experience it is just some mechanism provided by the big guy to make the trip alittle easier to endure.
Hey man, sorry about your loss. REst assured she's at a better place and still watching.

Re: when near death
The Bible says that when a person dies, "the body returns to the dust of the earth and the spirit returns to the God who gave it." That makes me believe that we are eternal beings who were temporarily planted here on earth and, at the appointed time, or spirit returns to God forever.
It's possible that God let your mother's sister visit with her loved ones for a while and then they all returned to Heaven together. I do not believe that, when a person dies, their disembodied spirit roams around in the earth alone. We are too precious to God for Him to allow that. My dad saw the angel that came to accompany him to Heaven. He was so excited and happy that he hurriedly hugged and kissed each of us and then he ordered the doctor to disconnect his life support. He said, "I'm ready to go now," and with that he took a deep breath and was gone.
My 25 year-old sister talked to our late grandmother whom we called "Ma Betty" up until a few minutes before she died. She didn't say where Ma Betty was so I can't say for sure.
