Old 8mm film to DVD
Any of you ever had this done? If so can you recommend a company? I googled it and found many companies that do it but was just looking for first hand reccos from someone.
We have hours of 8mm film (mainly sports) that I would like to transfer for viewing years and years from now.
Thanks in advance.:)

Re: Old 8mm film to DVD
I did something similar myself a good many years ago except I went in with another fella and we bought a piece of equipment but it worked in a similar fashion as waterdog described and the results were good, just like watching the old film... Most folks have a camcorder and it cost almost nothing to try unless your old projector has went belly up like mine now has.

Re: Old 8mm film to DVD
Thanks guys...I would do it that way but the projector stopped working a few years ago. We talked about transferring the film many many times but never did it. Now we are not sure what is what??? We messed up. I'm gonna check with the local public library and if nothing comes up I'll just send a few off to see what it looks like.
Thanks for the replies!!

Re: Old 8mm film to DVD
If you can't find someone to do it for you there are probably some folks who still have that old equipment, good luck to you, I would have hated to lose that old video of my youngsters when they were tots... You might have some doubts though that the face you shave in the mirror every morning is the same one in the video, as a beautician, father time is a dismal failure.
