Question for Computer Geek

I am one of those people who is electronically challenged and need to ask for some serious help from a geek. I guess I need to first explain. My computer is an HP-Desktop that's about 2 years old.

I deleted some important emails that I now desperately need. Is there a way that I can retrieve them from the hard drive? I have heard that everything is stored although it has been deleted. If anyone knows how I can do this, will you please give me instructions and guide me through the retrieval, step by step?

Bug, the most important question is, what service are you using for your email? If you are using Microsoft Outlook, you should be able to recover them. If you are talking about an online email service like Yahoo or MSN, did you look in the Trash folder?
