We're to fish on MLK day?
I live in louisville and don't have a boat. With the water being chilly and some rain and snow coming in, should I even bother? Wonder how the tailwaters of nolin or t-ville will be? Or the falls of the Ohio? Anyone got any tips or suggestions? Not stuck on any species and Would like to fish for anything. maybe cats on the Ohio if it's low enough. What do u guys think?
Re: We're to fish on MLK day?
The tailwater here in T-ville has been up and down a lot lately trying to get it to winter pool and with the recent rain, and the forecast I would not bother there. If I had to fish, I would find a deep eddy somewhere and put a catfish bait on the bottom.

I don't know the Ohio around L-ville, but it's prime sauger time
Re: We're to fish on MLK day?
Since I dont have a large enough boat, I think I;m going to go to Mcneely lake and fish with redworms, minnows, and some liver, and see what I catch. Should I fish close to the bottom with it as cold as it is?

Sounds a bit like jealousy to me. Have fun working.

Nope......I get PLENTY of days off............Spent 28 at KY, and 22 at Dale this year.
Not to mention 2 Serious 10 day trips to Canada.
Nothing to do with jealousy. Everything to do with a silly holiday, but hey that is just me.

But if I was going somewhere........I'm hearing Dale is still pretty good :) :)
Without a boat though, I'd be watching the water down by the interpretive center. Temps and timing is right. If the water drops a little more, the fishing down there....maybe colgate creek could turn on.
Smoke or Chartreuse grubs...I like 3/8 oz to fight the current. Tip with minners, or use Berkely gulp.
Have fun.

Thx I'm up in the on mcneely with a canoe or the hydros on the Ohio river in Louisville. I think it depends if we get rain or not. Im thinking minnows floated down the river close to the bottom for sauger and whatever else might hit it on the river.
Re: We're to fish on MLK day?
I wish my off base commander would let me get a boat.

Geo,
Are you saying that MLK did not make a significant contribution to society? What specifically are you trying say with this comment?

I think he's saying that he doesn't celebrate it. He has that right. This needs to stop right here, right now.
How about starting a movement for a Nat'l Take Off Work and Go Fishing Day??? Ideally sometime in April or May and no jet skis or pleasure boats allowed on the water.
