Micro Guide Rods
I'm wanting to give the micro guide rods a try but not sure which I should buy. i'm leaning more toward the Duckett's or Kistler Micro Magnesium. Do you guys have any other suggestions or experience with these rods. Only thing scares me with the Duckett is a buddy of mine bought one and the first trip out it broke in 3 places.

Re: Micro Guide Rods
Have heard of a lot of people breaking the Ducketts....If I were going with micros I would be very hesitant to try one....Had a friend by 2 and broke them both within 5 trips...Also I've heard of people having trouble fishing them in the winter with the small guides freezing up really bad

Re: Micro Guide Rods
The Falcon Bucoo seems like a nice rod and has micro guides. Also the Doybyns Savvy series has micro guides. I have handled the Falcon but have not purchased a rod with them yet myself.

I seen the Dobyns online last night. I'm pretty sure Dobyns makes good stuff. I also like the Veritas price point at $99 but not all that crazy about white rods.

Re: Micro Guide Rods
I own 4 ducketts, they are very good and sensitive rods, but like other rods if you abuse them they will break. I accidently stepped on one and broke the tip. but I sent it back and got a new one within 2 weeks. I did have a couple of carrot stix and broke 2 on the hookset, so needless to say I will not buy anymore of them, give the duckett a try, vey light and sensitive. just my 2 cents.

Re: Micro Guide Rods
I've got two BPS Carbonlite carbonlite rods and love them. They are lighter than the rods with conventional eyes and they pitch much smoother. The only thing I've been told is to protect the eyes when putting them in a rod locker. I bought a couple of rod socks that work great. For the price and the rod weight, I don't think you can beat carbonlite rods, , verses the higher end rods, which I'm sure are a little more sensitive.

Re: Micro Guide Rods
I have one Duckett and love it (MH worm rod)...lots of use and no breaks on the hookset yet. Great compared to my other rods as far as the weight and sensitivity go. Going for another couple this year.
I baby it putting in lod rocker, etc. and hopefully it will last. Have some friends with more than me and love them. Not sure what you need on price....just my experience.

Re: Micro Guide Rods
Cant go wrong with any kistler...that's all I use but haven't gotten one with micro guides yet,but I have used rods that has them. The magnesiums are awesome rods and have a fairly decent price for the quality of the rods. The micro guides can only make them better, but I agree with other guys. In the cold, they could get aggravating with the build up of ice.

Re: Micro Guide Rods
I had a custom rod built with micros, it's a deep crankin' setup. I love it!
Best part is that if I have any issues or problems, he'll take care of me.
He'll also take a rod you already have, strip it, and put on micros for a very cheap price...great way to save some money if you want to try micros without dumping a bunch of money.
