Lake Cumberland white bass
I haven't been to LC in over a year now because of the striper situation, but up until then my buddy and I were starting to catch some real nice white bass. They would be right in with the stripers too. I caught one a couple of years ago that had to be 18 inches long. It was a beast for sure. So are they still coming back strong and are the parasites in their mouths too?
Re: Lake Cumberland white bass
I have not caught any nor have I heard of anyone catching any. If I did I guess I thought it was a baby striper maybe and just threw it back.
Re: Lake Cumberland white bass
I've caught them behind the dam
Re: Lake Cumberland white bass
still catching them, but i wouldnt call the comeback "strong". there are a few here and there but they definitely are BIG. the last time i got into them was in july in the mornings and i honestly didnt notice if they had aything in their mouth.
p.s. caught a bunch of stripes in the last few days and they all still have parasites...BUT...they look fat, healthy and of course fight like crazy on spinning outfits with 8lb line. maybe they do better with cold water, o2 levels etc?
Re: Lake Cumberland white bass
I used to hit them strong back up in Wolfe 1/2 way but that was way back in 1997-2001 era. That was before I learned to shave ya know.
I would love to see C-land Stocked with Whites, and Hybrids, to go with the Stripers. It sure would add more months to top water action.
Okay, I admit it, I'm gettting tired of live baiting and prefer jumps. ! hours or fast hard coprs fishing balanced with 3 hours of beer drinking suits me just fine. Did you know beer costs less per gallon than gas?
