laurel lake trout
I haven't fished Laurel lake in years. What kind of lures would the trout be hitting this time of year and a general location where they would be located in the lake this time of year. Do you have to buy a ramp permit to launch and where do they sell them? Thanks in advance.

Re: laurel lake trout
From what I read here you should launch from either Holly Bay or Grove due to vandalism. Both places charge a fee. I launched at Grove. It cost $5. We got permit at the marina. Holly Bay was closed when we were there Saturday due to the recent houseboat fire. We saw trout busting on the surface at various points not far from marina. The one I caught came on a jerkbait. I was not sure at first what it was when I saw it busting so I threw my bait immediately to the spot and worked it pretty quick. It hit once, I missed it but then it hit again and I caught it. It was typical size of the ones KDFWR stock.
Good luck to you if you go.

Re: laurel lake trout
I've been catching them on a little silver Kastmaster spoon. Little rooster tails will also work. Try around holly bay or in any decent little cove. They seem to be all around.
As for the "big" ones I hear of around the dam I have no idea on what to do there. I just catch a few if the bass fishing is slow to throw in the freezer.
Hope that helps a little:)
