Best fishing line for top water
This is my first post on this discussion board. Been a reader for a long time. Enjoyed reading the great reports and stories. I fish for walleye, crappie, stripers, big bluegill, and any good eating fish:). My question is what is the best top water fishing line. I love to fish top water :D. Been pretty successful at it. Just haven't had any success with my lines. Used mono most of my life. Don't know much about other lines. Opinions are welcome. Looking forward to meeting some of you fisherman.

High memory. Like to fine a line like me low memory:D. Thanks
Re: Best fishing line for top water
For top water I just use the good ol' Trilene Smooth Cast. It's easy on the wallet, easy to find (I usually get it from Wally World) and it gets the job done.
Re: Best fishing line for top water
I use mono for top water only because it floats and use segar invisx or tatsu for everything else. If you throw a pop-r and let it sit, you will first notice your line sink then your next pop the pop-r will not spit, it will take a dive. The same with a Sammy, your line will be under the water if you pause it too long.

I use mono. Trilene XT or Big Game and have had no issues with either. By the way your name ac shiner did you get that from ac shiner the company? If so great baits. I dont live far at all from where they are made in Okeana, OH. I kill bass in the spring throwing these on top of beds.

Re: Best fishing line for top water
Fishing top water is my favorite way to fish. I dont know a lot, but mono is what I use because it floats and does not get tangled in the hooks where flourocarbon sinks. I have thought about trying braid but I don't know that much about it. Just my 2 cents.
Re: Best fishing line for top water
Gotta use the mono for floating properties.

Thanks alots for your thoughts. Helped me alot tight lines:)
Re: Best fishing line for top water
Ever think about braid? Flouro sinks, it ruins action on sammys, also hurts spooks. There is no stretch to braid, since its top water visibility isn't that much of a factor. And great hook sets at long distances.20/6 can handle anything, and it floats. Just back off on the drag a little, it can rip the hooks out,a spool can last all year.
Re: Best fishing line for top water
I like braid or mono because both float. Slightly different action on the baits I use with each but with braid tied on most of my reels I prefer braid for topwater.
