Any boat dealership or mechanics shop can replace the carpet.
Replacing floor ,if stringers etc would exceed the cost or value of the boat,if you pay someone else to do it.If its the extended deck most likly you can do it,simple box covered with carpet and slide in.
I have an 86 but its all composite. Also have extended deck via a slide in box.
Mine is all wood floors, wood lids and decks. The floor needs to be fixed. I guess I will do it myself. I have a homemade deck and works great. What kind of plywood, thickness, would you recommend.

Deck ext can be made out of even chipboard,or plywood whatever supports the type of weight you are wanting to place on it.As for the floor measure what you pull up and match,be semi willing to bet if floor is rotten, stringers may be as well,if not pour some rot doctor in and close back up.
Not sure of when they went to a more composite boat my 84 has wood only as storage dividers,or so all ive found havnt torn out the floor, but supposed to be a composite boat, mine anyway. Its a vl270.A 17 ft boat ,its those pre numbers that mean a lot on how it was made, like vl as in mine, also somewhat how much it weighs.
The actual floor may be composite. I haven't pulled any carpet up yet. If it is composite,
what kind of flooring would you recommend? It is only soft in the drain area around the console seats.
If it were composite doubt if it would go soft ,but to match or come close standard mat and epoxy kit that costs under 30 bucks.
Most likly is wood ive heard the early ones had wood in the floors.
