I noticed that they are not pulling Barren,Rough, and nolin. Have they started holding the lakes for summer pool, or is there too much water in the system to let them drain? Thanks

As far as barren and nolin, i would say it's because of green river. It's been high and really running for about 2 weeks. Went to nolin yesterday, i'd say it's about 10' over winter pool, so they still have a some time to pull it before the april rains get here... Tr
Do you know the date that they start holding it. I look on the corps website but couldn't find it
I thought they started holding it on April 15th, but if you look at the website it shows they are only 2.8 feet over target pool at Nolin. It is at least 8.2 feet over winter pool, so that cannot be right. Maybe they have started holding it? Even Taylorsville is showing water only 1.7 feet over target pool, but it is at summer pool there right now, which is 2 feet over winter pool.
This shows that they already started holding water, so I guess it is March 15 not April 15. http://www.lrl.usace.army.mil/wc/reservoir-plots/nrr.html
I always thought it was march 15th hopefully it is april 15th though. I love fishing at winter pool
they start holding them on march 15th,as of now they will not pull them until they are over summer pool, that's what happened back some years ago when barren and rough never made it back to summer pool.the lakes rose and they re-pulled them and we never got enough rain to fill them full.
They have a curve set up for where they want the water on certain dates. If they fill past the curve they will pull water back out if they can. So they just don't hold it until full pool.
I checked the Louisville District levels page today and it looks like they are pulling around 2000 cfs at Nolin today, so they must be trying to stay with the curve on that other page I linked to previously.
this morning they had Barren shut back about as far as I have ever seen it.
It sure won't hurt the fishing either.

This is correct information. A few years ago when I was at the coprs office at Green getting my parking permit I asked about how the schedule was to raise the lake. Obviously mother nature has to give us some rain to raise the water level. If the level is over what the projected pool is for the particular day of the month they will release water. They gave me a paper with a daily lake level for all lakes in the Green River water shed (green, barren, nolin, rough) and they will start holding water if we get rain after march 1.
Local corp of engineers offices do not determine when or how much water to hold or discharge. All decisions come from the main office in Louisville,KY.
