Adventures with Knute's brother
Knute (the heathen) and I made a fast trip to Florida earlier this month and were met by Knute's brother.
Problem #1: Knute and I arrive at the "resort" after dark and it's raining. We've never been to this resort/campground. We can't locate cabin 8. We drive around the property hoping that Randy will at least turn on the porch light. I rolled down the car window and hollered, "Randy!!" There he stood on the darkened porch. I asked him why he didn't turn the light on and he said the bulb must be burned out. I went to a lamp in the living room area and "stole" a bulb to put in the porch socket. Before I even unscrewed the "burned out" bulb I noticed a pull switch on the light fixture. Yep, I just pulled the chain and the light came on. There was a wall switch on the porch and that was how Randy had attempted to turn the light on.
Problem #2: The next morning we're ready to fish. Randy tells us to release the dock lines as he tries to start the motor. Rrrrrrrr, nothing. He tries again and again but the motor won't start. I ask, "Is the kill switch attached?" Problem #2 solved.
Problem #3: We arrive at out fishing spot and fish for a few hours. We get ready to move and once again Randy can't start the motor. This time it's dead. Nothing happens when he turns the key. He asks me to check the battery connections. I replied, "Is the motor in neutral or in gear?" Yep, he had left the throttle in gear.
I'm starting to feel like a genius around Randy. Oh, he's a retired lawyer that worked for a major oil company.
Re: Adventures with Knute's brother
Sounds like Knute (the heathen) must have put the smack down on his brother and caused some delayed brain damage!! Lol:)
Actually, to me it's those kind of things that make a trip more memorable. I have a buddy who passed away last year that could write a book on mishaps and stories about things he did or we did, and that was the stuff we always talked about....he would say "hey remember when".........and I miss that with him more than the uneventful times.
Re: Adventures with Knute's brother
haha I enjoyed reading your post about Randy Tyme. Maybe he was dropped on his head as a child or maybe he is an inbred redneck. Either way you could write a book about your fishing adventures with Knute and Randy. It would be funny to read.:D

The first day at Lake Talquin, fishing for crappie, I was using your method for counting my limit and came up short by one. The second day I limited out!!!:D
The Spanish Mackerel on Wednesday were a different story altogether. Possession limit is 15 for these toothy critters and we all limited out, for real.:)

Sounds like fun Tyme, did you catch the spanish on a Gotcha? I can't wait to hit the ocean this year....that is if I get to go, heck with a new critter it's tough to hit the river. Chuck

Yep, we used the Gotcha. What a smack when those mackerel hit the lure. I boated a double too. Minimum size is 12 inches but we didn't keep anything under 14 inches. We had to re tie after every other catch as those mackerel can sure chew up some 40 lb mono leaders.
