Is the white bass run over at Taylorsville? I figured with all of the warm weather it was early this year. Anyone had any luck in the last couple days?
Thanks for the info.

Caught 12 Monday and 12 Tuesday up in the WMA and 6 yesterday, in about 4 hours of fishing each day. A few small largemouth & decent bluegills were caught as well. I have had very limited success up near the bridge in the past few weeks. Things don't seem normal and pickings are slim this year it seems. Doesn't appear to me there has been or will be a "classic" white bass run this year. I would think it would have already happened and it has not. Last year a flood, the year before it was drought and this year..........odd weather???
It's been 3 years since I've done really well over there like I have in the past. Very disparaging.
See any carp?
I meant to say disheartening, not disparaging. Yeah, the usual carp were jumping back in there. Not many shad like in years past. I usually catch some crappie while fishing for whites and that didn't happen this year. However, I did catch some crappie out of the rock quarry about a week back though. All black ones.
I may give it one more try before I start fishing elsewhere. I really enjoy fishing there. One of my favorite places.
Tried the part of the river off Palmer road for the first time of my life yesterday. Well, I was soaked and skunked. Not a single bite. Was it the thunder or the run was over?
White bass?
All I ever caught was hybrids.
Never caught a white at Taylorsville, but then again,
I haven't fished for them.:D

Yep, JC ... there's White Bass in T-ville !! All I've ever caught were small ones, but they're in there. I think they were in the Salt before the lake was formed.
... pappy
As someone mentioned earlier, I fished it 3-4 years ago and hit it just right. Every 3rd or 4th cast. It was an awesome time, but the last few years have been difficult with all of the weird weather (temp and rain changes).

They are definitely in there, in good numbers. My wife and I caught our limit one day last summer not far from Possum Ridge. I was actually fishing for bass with a swimbait and was getting many short strikes in an area, so I downsized and started catching whites on every cast...I tied the same bait onto my wife's pole and we started doubling up on them until we hit the limit; we were tossing little ones back and only keeping decent sized ones, so there's no telling how many we caught in all.
This spring run thing though is something I haven't experienced or figured out yet. I keep hoping someone will post a good report about it.

Minnows? I started to try and fish in there Saturday, but passed on it. Any advice on how to fish it? I assume it's quite deep and much clearer in there?
Actually, I was using a mini red & yellow crappie tube from Wal-Mart. The lake was pretty muddy that day and I found the water in the quarry was clearer.
There are some cedars and laydowns over on the back wall.
Any new reports?
