McNeely Lake
I just started fishing McNeely last summer and would love to see some more info on how people are doing there. I am disabled and choose McNeely over Guist Creek or some of the other places I enjoy due to the convenience of being so much closer to home when I am ready to load up and go fishing, even more so when ready to come home.
I have been catching some decent fish, nothing trophy worthy but definitely better than nothing at all. Most of my fish are being caught on a root beer colored crank bait close to wood.

Re: McNeely Lake
I fished there last August and had 5 bass pitching a 1/8 oz black/blue bitsy bug with a black/blue net bait paca chunk trailer. Lost a decent one right at the boat. A few years back I was there and had around 30 keeper bluegill and a good size shellcracker

Never had too much luck there. Being as you are in Valley Station, you should try Waverly Park sometime.

For bass, yes, but for convenience Waverly is within 10 minutes probably from him. I have heard of people catching some nice catfish there, and I believe it is also periodically stocked with trout. On hot days you can always sit in the shade under the pavilion by the dock too.

Re: McNeely Lake
I've done really good on catfish there and ok on trout in the early spring.

Re: McNeely Lake
You should look into Fort Knox. It's not very far from Valley Station and a great place to get out if you have a little more time on certain days. There are several public access lakes that don't get too much pressure. I've had good luck at Saunders Springs and although I haven't fished there very much, I hear people do well at Upper and Lower Douglas. You would just need your KY Fishing license and then you can purchase a Army Post fishing pass for $14 I think it is. It's worth it to have for a year.

Re: McNeely Lake
a friend of mine last night ask me where he could go around Louisville to catch some nice bluegill for his freezer. I always thought waverly was to shallow to have big gills in them and not sure about mcneely used to fish there years ago but not sure what it is like now.
