Nolin bite......
I'm heading out about 3 in the morning to get a little fishin in before the crazies get out and was wondering how the bite is right now. We were down there two weeks ago and did pretty good. I'm hoping that it will be as good tomorrow morning. BTW , the wife and I go for the bass.
Thanks in advance.;)

Re: Nolin bite......
Don't go. The bass have left Nolin for the holiday weekend. I've been here since Wednesday night. Fished for 10 hours yesterday and caught 11 fish. Caught one on a crankbait and the rest grinding it out with a texas rigged rage craw. Fished with a buddy today and we caught 10 fish but we only fished til 11:30. Biggest for two days was 2.5 lb. They are very tight to cover and the few decent fish we caught were in 8 to 12 foot of water adjacent to the main river channel. Think "ledges". Good luck if you go.

Re: Nolin bite......
I went last Friday and caught about 20 bass. Try topwate early and go to the drops after the sun gets up. Use plastics, texas or carolina rig on drops. Two biggest were about 2.5lbs. Had about a five pounder follow the topwater back to the boat, but just was interested. Lost two good ones off a topwater. Fish areas adjacent or on channels banks.
Saw a guy go between the two buoys outside red rock and hit his engine. Then idled thereafter. Lake is lower that normal.
The lake is really clear...

Re: Nolin bite......
Thanks for the replies guys. That is pretty much what we did two weeks ago. My wife is hung up on a Red Bug Shad Mag II worm. Do you think they will still be hitting it? This was her Idea to go this weekend. We decided just to drive down early and then be out when the crazies get started. We will be putting in at the State park ramp. There is a real good drop right by the ramp that we will probably end our day on.

Re: Nolin bite......
Look for a drop where your boat is sitting in 25 feet of water and you are throwing to about 8 feet of water. Work the worm down the drop. I like using a 5/16 or 3/8oz to maintain contact with the worm.
Yes they will hit the worm she wants to use.... just keep moving and try different areas. If you make ten to fifteen casts each and don't get a bite, then move on.
Use a different style and color worm and figure out what they want....

Re: Nolin bite......
We'll the bite started kind of slow. Had two takers on a top water but only one decided it wanted to come to the boat and it was short. The fish really didn't start biting until the crazies started running and they started early today (about 7am).
We put 15 in the boat with 7 being legal. The best two were 2.5 and 2. My wife drug the worm all morning. I thought she was going to out fish me for a while but they started hitting my jig later in the morning. I didn't get her but by 1 fish though. We don't like fishing tourneys but we do like fishing against each other. The majority of the fish that we caught were in 20' of water on steep drops. The biggest on was on the bank in 2' of water right beside a 20' straight down drop. They were also in the backs of the coves where fresh water was still trickling in.
Going to go back June 8th to try them again. They'll probably be in 50' of water by then........LOL
