You know.....I do in fact dislike this potus more than ever for a wide wide variety of things but he/his administration taking these little chunks out of what I always believed in bothers me the most.
Advertising for food stamps? Do people really not know that program is available? Why go looking for people to get on gubment assistance? Really? Where is the data that told them that older people are starving or malnourished? Seems like another politically motivated move to show the masses that this potus is looking for people to give our tax dollars to and gain some votes. This administration is evil. No boundaries, no laws and nothing matters but staying in power.
On a related note, I saw a headline on AOL about a lady cashier who was fired for refusing to sell a guy cigarettes when he tried to pay for them with food stamps. We need an exploding head smiley.....
I have no problem with Foodstamps for people who legitimately NEED them. Looking hard for a job, can't find work, kids to feed, disabled, whatever that circumstance may be. As much as we have in this country, nobody who is TRYING should go hungry. I realize that Government is not a charity, but we can't stop being compassionate for those truly in need. The problem is that when that crutch is there, it allows the fraudulent freeloaders to come in and sponge. I don't know how to have have a system that legitimately helps those in need, without also providing a vehicle for freeloaders.
I do, however, have a huge problem with taking tax dollars to advertise about how great it is to be on welfare. Are you kidding me?

That makes no sense. You can't LEGALLY sell a guy cigarettes and him pay for them with food stamps. You can't fire someone for refusing to do something illegal...

From what I know of that situation, the customer presented his EBT card, you know the welfare card. It is legal to purchase tobacco and alcohol with this card and THAT MUST BE CHANGED.
I guess it was the welfare ebt card although AOL headlines it as a food stamp card.

It still needs fixed.
Holy crap.
I thought EBT card was nothing more than e-food stamps...so that people arent embarrassed by having to hand over paper. (Heaven forbid we put a negative stigmata on having to use welfare.)
I had no idea you could buy smokes with it. Egregious!!!!!!!
