Has anyone fished Guist Creek Lake lately? I was thinking about heading that way this weekend or next.
Was there today(Tues). Fishing was tough for me only boated 3 over 8 hours but missed 3. water temp 78 in the morning, 80 in the afternoon. Water color was good with about 1.5 visability in the creek and the main lake. The lake was down quite a bit.
Lots of shad flipping in the creek area and the area right of the dam but didn't see anything busting on them.
I assume that you are pre-fishing for the pond-hoppers like I was. I didn't figure anything out today since the bites were so few. Threw everything from a wake bait to a 6xd and a jig with little to show for it.
I did have the wildest thing ever happen to me though. I got tangled in some one elses line and as I pulled it up, a live catfish was on a hook on one end. The hook was pretty rusty and the area around the hook was healed and the hook just came right out. The fish swam away after released.

That is pretty crazy. I'm glad you were able to save it though. I am fishing in the Pondhopper Tourney, but was planning on going down there this weekend to prefish some. Thanks for the info, I will see you next week.

Guist was pretty hot in the spring, but this summer, it has been super slow. 6 bites in 8 hours *****. I have been three times this summer and have gotten skunked all three times. I caught two 5 pounders out of there this spring. I think the water temps have the fish acting goofy. Should be starting to get better though I hope.
I went back Friday, was still tough but did pick up few with only one decent fish around 2 pounds. Water was 78 in the morning going to 80 in the after noon. Hopefully this cold front will cool the water somewhat over the next week.
