UK basketball dilema
I was thinking last night some ''what if's''....
If very few or maybe NO Freshmen leave this year under the revolving one and done world that is Calipari, and ALL those new recruits show up next year who gets thrown to the curb???
There isn't enough scholarships to go around and not enough courtside seats, how is this going to shake out? Makes you wonder doesn't it???

Scholarships in basketball are 1 year deals, renewable each year.
It is not uncommon for a coach to "clean" house.......I bet quite a few of the current breed get asked to transfer if they don't leave.
Knight did it a few times, and Crean did it recently. Heck, Indiana may be in that position this year. If we don't lose 3 players, then we cannot sign the fantastic 4 and 5 stars that have committed.
I suspect Indiana loses Big Z, Olidepo and maybe Sheehee.......but not too sure......if not, I suspect we maybe asking kids to transfer or walkon..........
Later,
Geo

Oh I know the scenario but when it starts it decreases your Star power, In other words..most of these inner city high school superstar products can not pay for a college education. Once this starts happening with some regularity the magically Honeymoon might start to wane a bit....
Hmmm???

If Louisville could manage to get under the scholarship cap this year, we won't have a problem at UK.
No matter what we do, I'd say 2 guys are going pro for sure. Add in graduation and that gives us 4 scholarships already.
Plus, I don't even think we're using all of ours as Calipari doesn't just give them out for no reason. I'd say we can comfortably bring in 6 or maybe as many as 8 new players next year no sweat.

I'm saying that we already have some scholarships available because Calipari isn't using them all.
