At what point does the water level at wolf creek dam get too high to fish?
Never gets to high the more generators and the longer they run the better. Best in 560's range if u want to run up in the turbines.
How would you suggest fishing out of a boat if there is a lot of water flowing? What lures and techniques should I try?
I live about 2 1/2 hours away, so I am just trying to get some idea of what I need to try.
Run up in the bowls of the turbines. Wait for the boat to start drifting backwards and throw over the bowl. Try to keep line tight and straight up stream just off the bottom. I used jigs tipped with a minnow, kastmasters, even C-rigged storm swim bait.
Just watch the seagulls if they are diving get a bait in the water near them. Should be someone already there fishig this method. Watch them run up a few times them try it.
Thanks for the tip! Any tips for fishing further downstream, or should I just stay close to the dam?
Not really... Have caught some good fish down stream, but right now if the fish are biting. somebody in the boat should get a bite every run.
For those trying this set up, you need to totally understand what your rig (boat an motor) can handle.
No anchor.
PFD mandatory.
Any doubts about trying it then don't
