RIP sir, The he was the bass Propheser
RIP. I got to spend some time with him years ago at a MegaBucks tourney at the Harris Chain in Central Fl. He was a nice guy and seemed genuine not full of himself. He was more than willing to talk about the 5 blade prop he was running on his boat and showed us his idea in using glass beads on Texas rigged worms. He was fishing around docks from the bank after the weigh in. Pretty cool experience. I was very new to bass fishing and 20+ years younger so I was wide eyed and surprised this guy who I read about would take the time to lean against his boat and just shoot the bull with me. If i remember correctly his girlfriend ( maybe wife?) was just as cool. It meant alot to a young bass fisherman..prayers to his family from me.
His TV shows were always a pleasant change from the cookie-cutter shows.
Anyone else buy his snake lure? Never caught a fish on it.
RIP
Hated to hear the news. I was fortunate enough to meet Doug once at an outdoor writers conference. Very intelligent and probably caught more big largemouth than anyone.
Sorry to see this...loved the guy and his gentle teaching approach.. He was extremely knowledgable about our sport.
