Yak-Bassing Boltz Lake
Took my kayak out on Boltz Lake from about 7am-9am this morning. It was a nice morning other than the wind. The sun was shining and the air temp was in the high 60's. With it being my first time there I didn't really know where to begin so I first started pitching jigs around docks. I tried that for about 45 mins with nothing to show for it. I don't have any electronics on my yak yet so I have to use structure I can see from above the water. I started hitting all the points of the coves. That was where I started to find fish. They were specifically on points with rocks. They wouldn't hit a jig but instead would take a fluke. I honestly think if the wind hadn't been blowing me all over the place I could have worked the jig a little more effectively and probably caught some fish on it but it just wasn't happening. I couldn't keep the yak steady enough. But I found a few that wanted the fluke though. No monsters or anything but still a fun morning. I will definitely be back to that lake. It was really nice. I saw a lot of bluegill hitting bugs on the surface that made me really wish I had brought the fly rod. That will have to wait till next time though. Thanks to all who gave me some helpful info on my last thread about this lake!

from the look of the bass, they haven't spawned yet. There are brushpiles in the lake. Need a DF.
