You know, as much as I didn't like that Chick's comments, I look at things like this with entertainers from a different perspective.
Everybody's free to have their opinion and speak whatever they want to speak, but I don't give a rat's furry ass about a movie star or rock star's political views, moral views, ethical views, or whatever. All I really care about is whether or not I'm entertained by them. The Chixie Dicks may have said some dumb crap, but they could sing and they could play. Knowing their audience obviously wasn't something they cared about, but I'd still listen to their music if they were around today. I just don't look to entertainers to help me place my vote. I don't care what they think or what they use their podium advocate for.
Paul McCartney is a PETA-loving asshat, but he can entertain.
Stevie Wonder boycotted playing in Florida over Stand Your Ground Laws, but do you think I removed his stuff from my iPod? Nope.
Dixie Chicks are still together. They played a few gigs in Canada this summer. Natalie Maines put out a CD recently called Mother which is really good (not country at all, BTW). The two sisters put out one called Court Yard Hounds, which I haven't heard, but is supposedly also good.

Springsteen was the guy who forced me to separate music from politics.
Far as I know, Springsteen, Wonder, or McCartney doesn't go onstage during their concerts and bring up politics. If they do they don't personally insult the President of the United States.
Okay with me if they advocate their position onstage like "I'm for peace, and I disagree with the war" but when they personalize it and insult the sitting president that's way way out of line.
Also if they say "Vote Democrat, they'll give you money" that's fine with me. If they attack others like "Never vote for scumbag Republicans, they'll make you work for your own money" that's where it rubs me wrong.

Call me a dinosaur, but if some airhead musician disrespects the United States, I squelch their ass. Plenty of other music to listen to.

X2. I loved their music, but also dropped them and destroyed all cd's of theirs that I had. Everyone is entitled to their opinions or stances, but disrespect should not be included.PERIOD.

When I saw Bruce in Louisville, it was at the peak of his pro-Obama involvement in the election. He had just finished a benefit concert for BO, as a matter of fact. I was prepared, given how outspoken Springsteen was, for a diatribe, and also prepared to walk out if I heard one.
To his credit, he left politics out of it. People kept offering him homemade political signs to hold up and he passed on every one.

If they can keep their politics OUT of their performance, then I'd probably also give them a pass.....I've been to a few concerts with my wife where the headliner decides to air out their political issues.
I call ********.........NO matter if the are what I believe or not. I'm paying for entertainment, not political commentary.
In all reality though.....I rarely pay for a concert. I'd much rather spend that money on a 3-4 day fishing trip versus a 2-3 hour concert.
