Just google ohio river mcalpine levels or whichever pool. It will give the level and prediction for the upper and lower. It's pretty handy. Find out what pool level is for that dam and you can determine what's going on. Mcalpine tries to maintain 12 ft on the upper. If it's above that there is current somewhere. The higher the level the farther upriver you can expect to find some current. In a nut shell.

thanks that helps a lot. I guess from reading it that it was around 26 ft when I was out Monday and now it is going back down at 16. So where I caught fish Monday they will likely not be there as the cover will be out of water now. Is fishing generally better during a rise, after a rise, or at the peak of a rise?

You're probably looking at level below the dam. The upper has been bouncing between 12-14 feet. There should be fair current above the dam again today. 26 feet on the upper is really high
