Justin,
Are you using a 3rd party map? And how tight are you zoomed? I am not using a third party map and keep mine zoomed at "cartoon level" if that makes sense. I do see lags when I get to satellite image level. It does take 3 minutes or so to lock in with the internal. I do think this is an internal thing and an external antenna would help solve it. I am thinking of going that route myself.

Duayne,
I have factory loaded maps. I use the satellite type image I didn't know it could be changed, will have to look at that.
I have read that the external antenna does speed things up. I just wasn't sure if mine was slow due to being under the T-Top or if they are all that way. My Raymarine is almost instant switching back and forth or zooming with no delay is mainly what I am comparing it to.
Loading waypoints as a purchased program was a real hassle on my Raymarine, whereas the HDS was simple just downloaded the GPX file and bam it was done. The Raymarine was a mess took me many trys and restarts and new software on and on and on. That was a real pain but finally figured it out.
I was headed to Key West to fish for a few weeks so I bought online waypoints from Texas fishing maps which was a file of 100+ GPS spots. Which I highly recommend if you are going to a new area and ocean fishing but it was a real pain to put in my Raymarine. The Lowrance was very simple but the Raymarine, not so much. So +1 for HDS and -10 for Raymarine on that deal.

On mine, if I keep zooming in, it will switch from satellite image to the old style with contour lines. I prefer the fine detail when fishing structure. Just zoom in and see if it switches. Nice to know on the waypoints. I'll keep that in mind if I tow down! Thanks!
