Z-pack = amoxicillin of the 2000's. When they first came out they killed some bacteria. Nowadays after years of over-prescribing, not so much. I always joke with some of my patients about seeing the brighter side: "look at it this way, at least the doctor feels your condition is not terminal because he only prescribed you a z-pack".
Elnut is your allergy to vancomycin a true allergy or did they try to infuse it too fast the first time you got it? That ***** to be allergic to vancomycin and prone to MRSA infections. They ever try Zyvox (linezolid) on you for MRSA? Very pricey but an option nonetheless.
My wife is a RN in the E.R. at Kosair Childrens Hospital. They call her in a Z-Pack script every time she gets exposed to MRSA, which as you can imagine is quite often. She doesn't take it so as you can imagine there is a lot of it here.

Elwood, I am so sorry you are having so much trouble. You know I know what you are going through because I have worked around these health problems all my life. Our prayers are with you, Elwood.

Yeah not going to do much for MRSA but might help with a pesky upper respiratory infection either of you might come down with. Handy to have around. Great to have if you ever find yourself sick in a third world country.
