Well i can say it was a mad house sunday! My buddy and i managed 4 bass with one being about 3 1/2 lbs fishing a arashi crank bait. After the rudeness of almost every fisherman on tville i doubt ill ever go back.

Realize also, that most people don't eat Bass, like they do or as often as they do Crappie. Crappie are also a more prolific breeder than Bass.
Major tourneys like Crappie Masters or Crappie USA have a 7 fish limit, and all are released.
That particular tournament at Taylorsville, 4/26/14 was a "Fishing for Kosair Kids Tourney" put on by FOP Lodge #82 (Mt Washington), with a cookout & raffle following the tourney. http://www.louisville.com/louisville-events/fishing-kosair-kids-crappie-tournament
So, there was no 2day/300 boat fishing tournament at Taylorsville Lake.
Taylorsville Lake is beat to death with tournaments, anglers fishing it most every day, and heavy traffic from boats of all sizes/styles ... and it still continues to produce decent fish. And, oddly enough ... I'm catching bigger & healthier Crappie from the lake, now, than I have ever caught from there, and I've fished the lake since it opened !! Jus' sayin' !!

That's ridiculous.... If they really are keeping the fish they catch in these tourneys I just don't see how that does anything positive for a lake that already has so much fishing pressure as it is. I could see tourney fisherman keeping crappie but surely not largemouth. Can't really talk about stricter creel limits because Tville already has tough ones in place. Maybe regulate the number of tourneys per year but I don't see a change in the future. I used to fish Tville a lot because it was 20 minutes from the house. The frustration of fighting other anglers and pleasure boaters was just to much for me. I fish a couple other lakes now just because Tville was an uphill battle. I'll fish the spring white bass run and toss noodles at night for catfish. Then take some trips in the late fall for crappie. Other than that try to stay off Tville during heavy traffic times. Oh yeah and I forgot about fishing the hybrids in the jumps. That gets crazy as well with about 8 other boats within casting distance. Makes it tough but it's just one of those things you have to learn to deal with on that lake
I don't see how any kind of "tourney" could be beneficial to a lake that small with so much pressure. Throw in all the agricultural run-off and cyano bacteria problems and I don't see how anyone would want to keep a fish from that lake in the first place. I agree with you about the uphill battle, I've been trying to fish there for the past several years now, like you, due to close proximity and convenience, but just when I think it can't get any worse I'm surprised once again. I'll stick to winter if I decide to go back at all, the big cats are right where I want them that time of year anyway, this time of year through fall is just plain dangerous, let alone frustrating to no end.

Don't get me wrong I normally do pretty good crappie fishing on Tville and do really well cat fishing but most of the time it's not worth the fight against other folks. But trying to bass fish on that lake is just awful for me never have figured em out and never will lol

Best I've done on Bass @ T-ville .... Summer nights, Full Moon, shaded banks with standing timber, 4" Texas rigged craw, pitched right up on the bank & dragged into the water. Occasionally I'll cast cranks along deep banks, too.
Crappie fishing (post spawn) .... start out at daybreak, cast jigs to submerged timber, & give it up around midday ... or whenever the Sun is shining on the water over the submerged timber spots I fish. If I want to stay a while longer & fish, I'll usually troll a jig behind a crankbait for Hybrids/Whites. Even if boat traffic is heavy, the Hybrids/Whites don't seem to pay them much mind. I've even seen them busting Shad, in between skiers/tubers/boat riders.

Since it was a benefit for something worth while i will admit i was wrong. Just frustrating. Next time they need to push into may and make it a green sunfish tourney.

LOL ... yeah, I'd like to see a decline in the Green Sunfish population, too !!
I know it's frustrating when you have to take a number to fish a bank or stickup, believe me. And I have to drive an hour and a half just to get there !! But, you know what ... most of the time that I've found Crappie spawning at T-ville, it's been in early May. The fish I caught last week, both Black Crappie & White Crappie, still had not spawned. This rain, raising the lake up 4+ feet, is only going to delay things a while longer ... so you still have a chance at hitting them when they do come shallow.
... luck2ya !!

A few of these stories to say the least are a little exaggerated..........It was a 1 day tournament with around 70 boats and some of the folks kept there allotted daily limit. If you think that is going to drastically impact the crappie population of Tville you need to speak with the biologist on the lake. Tville has always been full and still is full of crappie! I spoke with Mr.Crosby ( state biologist) today on the water and in his opinion the lake is doing great in regards to blue cat , black bass and crappie. I didnt get to fish the tournament we are talking about but I did take home my limit of crappie today! If you want to see something mind blowing in regards to taking fish out of a lake get down to Okeechobee and see the folks taking thousands of pounds of crappie a day , six months a year out of that lake and its happening down there for as long as I can remember. I think sometimes we underestimate whats under the water. Good luck on the water.
If Taylorsville is so full of crappie, why did they have to stock crappie
last year? They added 61,000 because of low numbers.

Did you even read the article you posted??
"
“The stockings are part of a research study to evaluate whether crappie stockings in bad reproductive years will improve crappie populations down the road,” said Gerry Buynak, assistant director of fisheries for Kentucky Fish and Wildlife.
"
Seems to me they stocked due to a problem with a spawn class........As part of a RESEARCH program.
The key word there is "bad reproductive years"
there has been numerous things tried over the years to IMPROVE
the crappie population on Taylorsville lake.
Here's another one.

Most other lakes don't need help, Taylorsville does, it is not a "good" crappie lake.
I fish it most every weekend and do ok.
But most other lakes are much better for crappie.
Been fishing it steadily for 24 yrs now.
I know it quite well.
