Go figure I was just getting ready to succumb to the SEC hype this year and now look what happens. You all can thank me later.
True, the SEC flopped this year...after like 6 straight national championships, so I wouldn't exactly call it hyperbole. I'll take the SEC champ (and maybe even the east or west runner up) in the playoffs next year. You can thank me later.
I'm pulling for Ohio State, despite having no great love for Urban Myer. They've had some good teams in recent years, and they deserve ole Dr Pepper Jerry's trophy. Plus Oregon's uniforms are just plain too loud and ugly for anyone living east of the mighty Mississip to be pulling for them.
Go Bu....Buck....uh Buckeye....er Go Buckeyes!
Pretty hard to choke it out, but there it is.

COME ON MAN..........Pull for the Ducks they have the most smoking hot cheerleaders in all of college sports. Voted that way by several publications and that is not any type of hyperbole. I've always wanted to use that word in a sentence ever since Andrew slapped me up side the head with it last year......

The Oregon cheerleaders are one thing you can always just use the "eye test" to know who's best. No voting or polls necessary. I'm probably going to root for Ohio state but I'm not gonna cry if Oregon wins. Just give me a good game without any ref controversy at the end and I'm good with whatever outcome.
Just think if the old system was in place it would've been FSU/bama for all the marbles. Playoff is good, and I think they should leave it at 4. Yeah TCU may have been snubbed but I think logistically expecting a fan base to travel 3 consecutive times could get hairy. And then with the extra games you'd have the chance for injuries which you don't want when determining who is the best of the best. You want team A full strength vs team B at full strength.

By the rankings, it would have been Bama/Oregon not FSU for all the marbles, but I get your point. Now everyone can argue about who is ranked 3 and 4 instead of just 1 and 2.

After looking at those Oregon uniforms for a few seconds you can't see the cheerleaders, or anything else for that matter, it's all just big green blobs.
Speaking of Andrew, I haven't seen him on here since he jumped into that matrimonial bliss thing with the rest of us. Usually he'll try to inject some common sense into a 'left hanging loonie versus right wing wacko' thread every now and then. Recon the missus carries his keyboard (along with whatever else of his) in her purse?

LOL..............Good stuff Jimbo....
Yea he and I did not fish one time together last year which is very unusual. He was always zigging when I was zagging. He is doing very well and is happy in K town with his lovely bride. He still sends me fish pictures and he had a darn good year last year with several honkers including his personal best Striper.
I am happy for him for all above mentioned, we are going to get on them this year no matter what.

According to ESPN Radio yesterday, under the old BCS system it would have been Bama vs. FSU for the title. As for the 6 straight BCS titles by the SEC, would any or all of those have happened with a four team playoff?
If I were in charge I would make the regular season 11 games instead of 12. All of the big 5 conferences must have a conference title game. Make it an 8 team play off. The champion of each of the power 5 conferences are in along with 3 at large that can come from any conference.
-
Florida state would have been number one in the BCS because the weight of the one loss by the other teams would more than offset the perceived lack of schedule strength. Plus they did have the victory over ND which was in the top 10 at the time I believe. The race would've been for second between Oregon and bama because both lost relatively early but I think bama would've had a higher % due to the perceived strength of wins against SEC opponents. Oregon would've had a top 10 win against Michigan state so it would've been pretty close.

Any or all? Maybe not all but 6, but even you wouldn't say none of the 6 would have happened. Or is your opinion of the SEC really that low?
I believe after a few more years like this one and/or TCU like situations, and something like your playoff system will be adopted. Even the money in the current bowl system can't stop progress.
I also figure this year was a fluke. AN SEC team will either be, or be very close to national champion regardless of what system they put in place.

Sorry man. Was just going by number 1 against 2. I confess ignorance as to how they arrived at the rankings this year as opposed to BCS years. Haven't paid close enough attention.

No guarantee on what I said I was going by memory as best I could. The SEC will be heard again in future playoffs they'll just have to win two games like everyone else now.

Either that or he has been enjoying some of the benefits of marital bliss that he has had better things to do than try to educate you lot :-)
