These days a good ole country ass whupping is like some heinous crime. I remember a time when it just wasn't that big a deal. Every now and then somebody took one, and it was all over. No carrying on, no cops, and no lawsuits, the situation was generally settled.
Somebody runs into my sled hard enough to crack fiberglass...unless he's looking all Brock Lesner over there, I'm on his ass like a real expensive suit.
Jim when I'm thinking straight I like to think I would not get into it with someone but I know when I get into Beast Mode and pissed because someone pushed me there I don't usually think straight. I have had a few shouting sessions on the water but thankfully that's all they were.
Back to your point.....these days a simple butt stomp is looked at differently that's for sure. Heck I remember getting smacked around pretty good as a younger person and becoming good friends with the guy who did it to me.....sometimes we just need to be knocked down a notch..:)

Precisely my point Don. Had a knot or 2 put on my noggin back in the day, and never even considered calling a cop or having anyone arrested.
Everyone can say what they want, but if you're sitting there waiting to lock through and someone hits your boat because he's not paying attention, you're gonna get sideways with him. Just telling it like it is.
Since most people, including myself, probably has a firearm of some type in their boat I don't know if that would be a good idea or not. Since Ish knew the guy was a fellow competitor he also knew that he did not have a gun on him. I bet Ish would not act so bad*** to someone if he thought they might have a gun on them.
Good point, I got no argument for that.
I bet Ish wouldn't have acted so bad *** to someone if they hadn't run into him either.

Stole this from BBC
Guy sounded like he saw the whole thing.
Monroe crossed the line, but I don't think Poche should have called the cops.

I have never had another fisherman hit my boat so I don't know how I would react. I'm sure the dude didn't intentionally run into Ish, apparently he was just being an idiot by letting his boat get out of control. Ish had every right to get upset at the guy. When Ish escalated it into a physical altercation is when he became a bigger idiot than the other guy was. There is just no excuse for that kind of behavior especially when it is by someone that I'm sure is admired by a lot of kids and regular folks. In my opinion he has given a black eye to everyone that calls themselves a bass fisherman and left up to me I would suspend him from competition for at least a year.
