F-35 is a multi role fighter. The F-22 is an air superiority fighter. Combined together they are a formidable duo but in a one on one dogfight the F-22 would be the dominant aircraft. F-22 production was halted in 2011 due to cost and relevant adversaries. The F-22 is predicted to have a considerable advantage in stealth and performance over all other aircraft until at least 2025. Another potential advantage to the raptor is no one else has one except the US Air Force.
