Jailed clerk

Remember what i said about man creating God in HIS image? I'm beginning to think that some of you guys have done this.There is NO liberal God, There isn't a conservative one either.But there is a clerk in jail for contempt of court. She should quit,its her right to go on a public pulpit and preach her beliefs.But as an elected official, she swore to the same god to uphold the constitution of the USA, I'd call her a zealot. [ the same thing as KOOK]. She should go and have her TS card punched, and find a new job.

What if she had just refused to do some other essential function of her job that wasn't such a hot button issue? Could they remove her? Would she be in jail?

If they can't remove her, then our system is seriously flawed.

And if the answer is that she wouldn't be in jail if it were some other function she refused to do, then she shouldn't be in jail for this.

Casey Davis in Casey County, and Kay Schwartz in Whitley County are also refusing to issue marriage license to same-sex couples based on the same religious freedom argument. They have not been subject to any legal challenges and so have not been threatened with jail.

I'm not condemning her, I'm condemning the government.

She has offered to compromise. The government is the one that doesn't want to compromise. They are the ones that turned her in to a criminal. It's ridiculous that she had to spend 6 days in jail. The day before that judgment, she was in no trouble. The Governor had no trouble making "adjustments" to the law so it would read differently, but he remains silent when it comes to making minor adjustments on anyone else's behalf. I think she has followed man's law right up to the point it conflicted with God's law. I kind of like this law, "Government shall make no laws establishing religion or infringing the free exercise thereof", or something to that effect. Christianity isn't something you leave at the door when you leave your house, it's who you are. You can't separate it out, so you don't have any option but to exercise your faith(unless the government infringes on it). God is the one who established marriage between a man and a woman. 5 judges in black robes decided differently. God didn't need a piece of paper to show marriage, man is the one that started that nonsense so he could control his fellow man. Now look where it's gotten us. Maybe man is right and all Christians should resign and get out of Government. Yes I remember all the citizens so upset with Bill Clinton when he was breaking the law. That's right, he was re-elected. Maybe we should see if she gets re elected. BO chooses which laws he will enforce and when Arizona decides to go ahead and enforce the laws on the books, he sues them to keep them from enforcing the laws he chose to ignore. No big deal. Wow, we have come a long way from a country established by mostly Christians, to having BO say that we are no longer a Christian nation. Change you can believe in. Man got us in this mess, man should fix it.

How come a person who swore to uphold the Constitution and defend the country against all enemies foreign and domestic, has the right to be:

Yet a clerk who swore to follow the laws of the Commonwealth can't do the same?

Not a supporter, but if religious beliefs are a strong enough basis for not defending the country in time of war, then don't ya think we might have some same level of tolerance for an administrative clerk?

I think she did go to jail, because she refuse the judges order to follow the law. I think if she had said to the judge "As boss of the office, I will comply, and tell my staff to do so, but I for one will not pen a license with my name", I think she'd been just okay. But she didn't say that, she defied the courts authority, and that court reacted properly in my mind by putting her in jail.

If one holds public office, they are judged not only by their own personal conduct, but also by the leadership ad guidance they give to their subordinates, their staff.

It's like an Army platoon leader, who in the midst of a fire fight, tells his men to seek shelter, then he himself charges the guns to try to save his men. Had the clerk said " I'll do my job as a leader, keep my people out of harms way, and instruct them to comply, but I will stand and charge the guns", I think the judge would have given her the okey-dokey.

After all, that's how she got out, the agreement for her release was that while she would not pen a license, shed make sure her staff followed the law, so that the law that for better or worse now allows a license to be granted, would in fact get granted.

Hey you folks with military background. How many times did you get an order that you hated to follow, but did because it was your duty to do so, and even more importantly, you wanted to be standing with your men/subordinates if the decision you hated to follow did turn out bad? Thats what the clerk should have done. But she got on her pedestal, left her folks hanging in the wind, and as a result got wacked for it.

PS: If she had vacation time accrued, shed be well with in her rights to use that to cover her jail time away from work. She was not AWOL, because her bosses had notice via the court announcement when she went to the hoose-gal. She has earned her annual vacation time as part of her compensation package, just like fed employees.

She went to jail because she didn't obey the law. Shouldn't Obama be in jail for ignoring our immigration laws?

In my opinion, nobody gives a crap about how you worship, what God you pray to, or how you feel about your relationship with your church....UNTIL....it affects them. If you bring it to work and let it interfere with the job you signed on to do (especially if you are an elected official) or your religious practices have an affect upon others against their will, then SHTF. Keep your religion and your relationship with your God and your church to yourself.

Do your job and don't bring religion into it....no problem.

Don't want to do your job because of your religion? No problem there either. Quit. Find another job.

It's really as simple as that.

The circus sideshow that has become Kim Davis and her hokey martyrdom as some symbol of the persecution of Christians by the government is an absolute joke. Mike Huckabee bringing her out onto stage from the jail while Eye of the Tiger is blaring....really? I mean...really? Our government does not give a rat's ass about what religion you are or how you practice it, unless it means you start disobeying laws...it really doesn't. It is far too busy collecting your money and wasting it on useless crap for that...and rest assured, it'll take your money whether you worship Jesus Christ or Kanye West as your God. Fear not.

Then you will agree Obama belongs behind bars for not enforcing all of the laws some he refused to have enforced and others he changed the laws to suit him with an executive order which is a lot worse than what this lady has done. Why didn't a Federal Judge tell Obama to enforce the law or go to jail. As you have said Moveon maybe Obama should go find another country to live in

And for the record I disagree with your supposition. It's about as silly as trying to put Cheney in jail for starting the war in Iraq or putting Bush in jail for allowing all the illegals to enter this country during his 8 years on the job. According to YOUR Thinking we should have arrested ever President for not enforcing the laws of the land. That's about a silly as anything I've ever heard in my life.
