just got back from Okeechobee lake, the lake was really muddy, could only see about 6 inches deep, the crappy fishing was really good, only bass fished one day for about 3 hours, bass fishing was to slow to spend much time on, with the big slab crappy feeding like they were, water temp early morning 68 degrees, windy every day, beautiful weather high 70's to mid 80's, killed a big cotton mouth right at the boat ramp. this was a bucket list trip for me and I loved it, some big water and some of the best crappy fishing I ever did, I will for sure hit it again before long. I placed a couple photos on the fishing site...all black crappy

1) Catch a 2 plus pound male redear and mount it. I've caught a female that was over 2 pounds but they don't have the coloration/looks of those big male ears.
2) Get into catfishing and target big blue cats and flathead.
3) Become a much better crappie fisherman now that I live down here at Lake Barkley.
4) Not fishing related but travel related. Plan and take a Western trip with my family. I would like to take 2 weeks and drive out West to sight see.

2018 Bucket List
Taking my dad and son to Canada in June-July for a 7 day fly in get away. Have always wanted to go north and finally got the old man to agree to the trip. Stoked to try the waters for smallies and hopefully a few muskie and lake trout.

This was also one of my bucket list trips, and now I can check it off, we drove all the way to the pacific coast, started north to the Dakotas, visited the Badlands, my Rushmore, crazyhorse, and the badlands is one of the most beautiful places ever, then west to Wyoming and Montana, visited Yellowstone National Park, then south to Idaho, visited Shoshone falls, then north/west into Oregon, visited Columbia river gorge, Multnomah falls, crossed the Columbia river at the bridge of the gods, into Washington, then on west to the coast. We did the Pacific ocean coast drive alone the scenic route highway 101, as we got back into Oregon again going south we spent the night in a little town called seaside, had the best country breakfast you could ask for there at a little place called Granny’s kitchen, all the way south on 101 through Oregon and California the scenery is breathtaking, one little small town after the other, very clean little towns, and everyone we met were the nicest people ,back across California to Yosemite National Park, this place was so pretty, it was hard to decide which way to point your camera, then east across Death Valley into Las Vegas Nevada, on to the Hoover Dam, now I was very disappointed in Hoover Dam, it didn’t live up to the grand image I had in my head, but the Grand Canyon National Park made up for it, the Grand Canyon was awesome, then we went south into New Mexico and Texas, mostly just open range, then north to Oklahoma and east through Arkansas and Tennessee to Ky. After making this drive, I get a better image in my mind, just how massive this country is, the good Lord sure did a wonderful job when he decorated America, when you go, don’t just rely on GPS, take a good road atlas map, this way you can get off the expressways and drive the backroads and small towns where you will meet some very nice folks. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did,

I was going to attach a few small videos, some were as small as 30 seconds but the form says they’re to large. The snow on top of Wyoming mountains roadside was over my head and i’m 6’2’’ I made short videos of Moose, Elk, Buffalo, Deer and Prairie dogs. Hope someone that’s never been out west enjoys the photos. Now next spring if it be Gods will, I should get to check off another bucket list trip, that would be smallmouth bass fishing Lake st Clair.

This is Multnomah falls in Oregon,
This is a large lake in Yellowstone Park, very pretty with snow covered mountains in the background across the lake,

My goodness, what a trip, Waterdog! It's inspiring to read about your trip and it makes me want to buckle down and take my wife and soon to be 10 year old son out West.
It'll have to be next summer because they've already planned a Panama City Beach trip next month. I'm excited to go, but next year, it's West or bust!
