>The state keeps an ENTIRE years budget in reserve each year.
>Not sure of the total but well in excess of the $12million
>needed to by 4000 acres. Like you said the user fees could
>have been used to replenish the budget and having less than a
>years budget for a few years while we replenished would not
>have been a problem. Matter of fact I BELIEVE that hunters and
>fishermen would have gladly opened their pockets in order to
>donate money to get more land to fish and hunt.

Moose,
I have no idea what the GPS coordinates are. We are having some dispute over the property lines. The first surveys changed our land lines, giving us land in some area, taking land in other areas. But to be fair, they had young guys, who looked like teenagers doing the surveying, and when asked where the line went, one of them pointed out "yonder" and somewhere over toward those trees. Now understand, there were several stands of trees.... LOL These guys really did not care at all.
In any case, they are now resurveying the land.
While I think it is a shame that the average man is losing his hunting land, even though I don't hunt, but I don't think there is anything wrong with private entities trying to get the most they can for their land. We have 250 acres that extend into what was purchased here. We also have 12 acres of the best lake. I'm hoping I can negotiate the land to be worth at least 5K per acre... but ultimately it belongs to my father-in-law and it will be up to him.

Yes the state could do a lot for everyone, I work for the state and I am sad to say well, nuff said about that, I need the job for now, anyway I live in Ohio co, and loved to fish those pits, man you could just slay them there, I pratice catch and release, except crappie and walleyes. It is a shame that the state would not take this over it could be made into a new type of outdoor rec area for some kind of social improvement or tourisim. We need to take this to our legaslators and such. We need to stand up for our rights and provide for the future for our decendents. Thanks
It appears to me with land becoming harder and harder to come by the State would have to jump on an opportunity to purchase such a large plot when it became available.
The fact that it was wild and full of animals and lakes full of fish would make it a no brainer.
But, who knows you guys there may need another SuperMart.....
